A light-hearted moment took place between Shaun Pollock and Marco Jansen following Day 3 (Monday, November 24) of the second Test between India and South Africa in Guwahati. Pollock lauded Marco Jansen for his impact on the game in every department, and the left-arm pacer’s reply left everyone smiling.
Jansen delivered a stunning all-round performance on Day 3. After missing a maiden Test hundred, he dismantled India’s batting lineup, finishing with figures of 6 for 48 as India were bowled out for just 201 in reply to South Africa’s massive first-innings total of 489. The Proteas chose not to enforce the follow-on.

With the ball, Jansen removed Dhruv Jurel in the morning session. After tea, he dismissed Rishabh Pant, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Ravindra Jadeja in quick succession to break India’s middle order.
The left-arm pacer completed his five-for by sending back Kuldeep Yadav, who scored 19 from 134 balls before edging to Aiden Markram. He removed Jasprit Bumrah as Kyle Verreynne completed the simple catch.
Before Jansen, legendary South African all-rounders such as Jacques Kallis, Shaun Pollock, and Lance Klusener had toured India several times but never managed to do so. However, Jansen achieved it on his very first Test tour of the country.
I Just Want to Be Like You, Shaun Pollock - Marco Jansen
After the third day's play, Shaun Pollock lauded Jansen for his impact, joking that if he wasn’t batting, he was bowling, and if he wasn’t bowling, he was contributing in the field. Jansen responded with good humour, saying he simply wanted to be like Pollock.
"(About the game plan) There’s obviously nice pace and bounce in the wicket. Not a lot of nip or swing, a little bit here at the end. Once we saw there was a bit of bounce and better pace in the wicket, we tried to utilize that. (Contributing in all departments) I just want to be like you, Shaun," Jansen said.
Good Day for the Chaps and for Myself - Marco Jansen
Marco Jansen said that he was pleased with his performance but felt the spinners deserved credit. He added that when the ball stopped moving, the spinners kept things tight and created pressure, allowing him to benefit later.
"Obviously a good day for the chaps and for myself in particular. But yeah, I feel the spinners did a really good job when the ball wasn’t moving as much and there was a dead period at some stage. I really feel the spinners did a brilliant job and I’m just lucky to be the one who cashed in," Jansen stated.
"Who said we didn’t fight hard? Like I said, there was a bit of pace and bounce in the wicket, which was nice. We did think we were probably going to field, or we were preparing to field, for at least two days. The boys did a really good job today. (After getting out in the 90s) I took most of the steam off last night. Today was just all about trying to do a job for the team, which I’m glad I did."
