Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has expressed admiration for India's bowling unit following their victory over Bangladesh in the first Test match in Chennai.

Basit Ali also compared the Indian bowling attack to the legendary Pakistan trio of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar.

The Indian team registered a 280-run victory at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, September 22.

Indian fast bowlers delivered impressive performances during Bangladesh's first innings. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin played crucial roles in the second innings.

Bangladesh had recently enjoyed success in an away Test series against Pakistan. However, the visiting team was dismissed for low totals of 149 runs and 234 runs.

The Indian pacers took eight out of ten wickets in the first innings and the spinners secured nine out of ten in the second innings.

Indian Bowling Unit Is So Impactful - Basit Ali

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali said that the Indian bowling unit is comparable to legendary Pakistani pacers like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, and Waqar Younis. He noted that the impact of the Indian bowlers remains the same even without Mohammed Shami.

"The Indian bowling unit is so impactful that they are on the level with pacers Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, and Waqar Younis. Right now, Mohammed Shami is not playing," Basit said, as quoted by the Hindustan Times.

In the first innings, Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets for 50 runs, Mohammed Siraj secured 2 for 30, and Akash Deep also picked up 2 wickets for just 19 runs. Bumrah demonstrated excellent control with the ball, while Akash Deep and Siraj helped apply pressure on the Bangladesh batters in Chennai.

Mayank Yadav's Ball Is Very Dangerous - Basit Ali

Basit Ali also expressed his desire to see young bowling sensation Mayank Yadav make his Test debut in Australia. Ali praised Mayank Yadav for his impressive pace, describing him as very dangerous in Australia with his accurate bouncers.

"Mayank Yadav's ball is very dangerous. His bouncer is accurate. I wish to see him play a Test match in Australia," Basit added.

Mayank Yadav grabbed the headlines while playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He recorded a delivery speed of 156.7 kph against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). It was the fastest ball of IPL 2024 and the fourth fastest in the tournament's history.

Mayank Yadav took seven wickets in just four matches at an impressive average of 12.14. However, he suffered a side strain injury after only four games that sidelined him from the remaining tournament.

Mayank Yadav is expected to be included in the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia, starting in November. India will play the second and final Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur starting on Friday. India will face New Zealand in a three-match Test series before the BGT series.
