In a big boost for Lucknow Super Giants, pace sensation Mayank Yadav is all set to rejoin the squad by Tuesday. After recovering from his back and toe injury, Mayank is expected to be available for selection in their next IPL 2025 match against the Rajasthan Royals on April 19 in Jaipur.

Mayank, who is known for his fiery pace and sharp movement, had to sit out for a long time after suffering a back injury during India’s T20I series against Bangladesh. Just as he was getting closer to making a comeback, a toe injury struck at the wrong time, delaying his return to the IPL 2025.

With these back-to-back injuries, concerns grew over the Lucknow Super Giants’ fitness, as his availability for the rest of the season was highly uncertain. However, Mayank Yadav and NCA medical staff work hard to pave his return to action on Tuesday, April 15.

Mayank Yadav to join LSG on April 15

Sources from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru confirmed that the young speedster is fully fit and ready to hit the ground running in the ongoing IPL 2025. Mayank’s return will add serious firepower to LSG's bowling attack as the season heats up.

NCA sources were quoted as saying by MyKhel, “He (Mayank Yadav) is fighting fit and should be raring to go now.”

LSG wanted Mayank Yadav ruled out, NCA said 'No'!!

Meanwhile, there was a disagreement earlier between Lucknow Super Giants and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) over Mayank Yadav’s fitness. Since there was no clear update about his recovery and he wasn’t fully fit, LSG had asked for him to be ruled out of the entire season.

It would have allowed LSG to pick a replacement fast bowler from the list of unsold players. However, they didn’t get approval from the BCCI and NCA. At that time, LSG was in a tough spot because a few of their other pace bowlers were also dealing with injuries.

Despite all this, Mayank remained hopeful about making a comeback by mid-April. Now, the fast bowler reportedly attained his full fitness and is raring to go; his return will really strengthen LSG’s bowling attack and improve their chances of reaching the IPL 2025 playoffs if he stays fit.

LSG to face CSK in Lucknow

Well, the LSG is all set to face Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2025 clash on Monday, April 14, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The fourth-ranked Lucknow team is in great form this season, winning four of their six games, while CSK is the bottom-ranked team and managed to win only one game and suffered five back-to-back defeats in the tournament so far.

However, the LSG skipper Rishabh Pant has been struggling for form in the ongoing season, scoring just 40 runs across six matches so far.

On the other hand, Pant has been nominated for the Laureus Comeback of the Year 2025, a global honor recognizing the best return from adversity in sports. He survived a near-fatal car crash, suffering severe injuries.

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter underwent multiple surgeries and long rehab before making a comeback after nearly two years and went on to win the T20 World Cup 2024.
