Young off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz has joined the elite list of Bangladesh cricketers during the ongoing second Test match against Pakistan. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has become the second Bangladesh player to reach a massive milestone in the longer international format of the game.

The opening day of the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan was lost due to rain and a wet outfield at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto opted to bowl first. Taskin Ahmed picked up the wicket of Abdullah Shafique in the first over of the match.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz Bags Five-Fer in Pakistan First Innings

Opener Saim Ayub and Shan Masood steadied the innings with a 107-run stand for the second wicket. Masood was dismissed by Hasan Miraz after scoring 57 runs off 69 balls. The home team went on to lose wickets at regular intervals and was bowled out for 274 runs in their first innings.

Mehidy’s second wicket came in the form of Saim Ayub, who scored 58 runs off 110 balls. The off-spinner then removed Khurram Shazad. Hasan Miraz completed his five-fer with the wickets of Mohammad Ali and Abrar Ahmed. It was his 10th five-wicket haul for Bangladesh in Test cricket.

Hasan Miraz was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh in Pakistan's first innings. The young off-spinner played a crucial role in dismissing Pakistan's tailenders for a low score. He picked up five wickets for 65 runs in his 22.1 overs on the second day of the ongoing Test match in Rawalpindi.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz Joins Elite List With Shakib Al Hasan

The 26-year-old cricketer also shone with the bat in Bangladesh's first innings. He came to bat when the Bangladesh team was struggling at 26/6.

Miraz then added a 165-run stand with Litton Das for the seventh wicket. He was dismissed by Khurram Shazad after scoring 78 runs off 124 balls.

After scoring a half-century, the young all-rounder joined the elite list with Shakib Al Hasan. Miraz became the second Bangladesh cricketer to take a five-wicket haul and score a half-century in a Test match. Notably, Shakib Al Hasan achieved this milestone twice in his illustrious Test career.

I Am Not Thinking Much - Mehidy Hasan Miraz

Mehidy Hasan Miraz is satisfied with his bowling, adding that he focused on bowling in the right areas. He said that he was concerned about the green surface but found some turn after the first session.

"Thankyou, I am really happy about my performance yesterday with my bowling. Yeah I was little bit worried about as the wicket was really green but after the first session I was getting some turn and I just tried to bowl at the right areas. I was not thinking much of wickets in order to put much pressure on myself," Miraz said, as quoted by CREX.
