Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz is set to make his debut in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the table-toppers Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Guyana Amazon Warriors confirmed Miraz for the rest of the season as the replacement for the Afghanistan National Cricket Team star, Mohammad Nabi, who had to leave the team and the league to play the upcoming T20I series against India.

Afghanistan Cricket Board named Nabi in their T20I squad for the T20I series against India in Delhi. Warriors picked Mehidy Hasan Miraz as a like-for-like substitution. Mehidy Hasan Miraz is available for the remainder of the CPL 2026 season as the Bangladesh Cricket Board did not select him for the upcoming Asian Games. As a free player, Miraz has no issue joining the CPL franchise.
Warriors' next match is on September 8 against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, and on September 9, they are scheduled to face Saint Lucia Kings. It will be interesting to see if Miraz makes his CPL debut in either of these two matches.
Guyana Amazon Warriors will miss the services of Mohammad Nabi
It will be a massive job for him to fill the void created by the experienced Afghanistan spin bowling all-rounder. Guyana Amazon Warriors captain Imran Tahir, in his comments, said that the team will definitely miss the service and expertise of Nabi for the rest of the season.
"He's one of the best off-spinners in world cricket at the moment, and that's the reason we got him. He can bat and is a really good slip fielder. He's also been good with us, sharing his knowledge,e and the way he's been bowling has been brilliant. From GSL till now, his lengths are so good, and he never missed anything in any game. We're really going to miss him," Imran Tahir said after defeating Patriots in their previous match.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz missed his CPL debut in 2017
Mehidy Hasan Miraz previously got a chance to make debut in the league, but remained only as a bench warmer. In 2017, Trinbago Knight Riders named him as a replacement, but refused to provide the Bangladesh all-rounder his debut CPL match.
In a limited number of matches for the Warriors in the season, Nabi picked up 12 wickets from six games at an average of 10.17, including two four-wicket hauls. On the other side, Mehidy Hasan Miraz played his last Twenty20 match in the Lanka Premier League 2026 (LPL 2026).
So far in his T20 career, the 28-year-old all-rounder has claimed 118 wickets averaging nearly 31, including two four-fers in 176 matches. With the bat, he has scored 2,320 runs at an average of 17.57, including seven fifties.
Along with Mohammad Nabi, another Afghanistan international, Rahmanullah Gurbaz will join the national side to face India in the T20I series, which will start on September 13. He has been replaced by Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris. Like Miraz, the CPL 2026 is expected to mark Haris' debut as well.
