Indian skipper Rohit Sharma recently revealed the bowler who has given him more nightmares than anyone else in his cricketing career. Rohit Sharma described facing former South African pacer Dale Steyn as challenging but not a nightmare.

Rohit Sharma is regarded as one of the finest white-ball cricketers from India in modern cricket. The right-handed batter has achieved significant milestones in his career. He scored more than 10,000 runs in ODI and more than 4,000 runs in T20I cricket.

The 37-year-old captained the team in the ODI World Cup 2023 held at home. The Men in Blue reached the final match without losing a single game. However, they suffered a heartbreaking loss to Australia in the summit clash in Ahmedabad on November 19.

The Mumbai cricketer will lead the Indian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, set to be played in the West Indies and the USA. The Rohit Sharma-led team is placed with Ireland, Canada, the USA, and Pakistan. India will play all league matches in the USA.

Dale Steyn Is An Absolute Legend Of The Game - Rohit Sharma

On the Dubai Eye 103.8 podcast, Rohit Sharma praised Dale Steyn's ability to swing the ball at a high pace. Rohit described Steyn as an absolute legend of the game. Sharma enjoyed the battle against the Proteas pacer despite not having huge success against him.

"Facing Dale Steyn from South Africa was not a nightmare, but I've watched his videos like 100 times before I went to bat. He is an absolute legend of the game, and what he has achieved in his career is just superb to watch. I've faced him many times," said Rohit Sharma.

"He used to swing the ball at a pace which was never easy. He was a fierce competitor, always wanting to do everything for the team and win every game and every session. It was nice to come up against him, not that I had huge success against him, but I enjoyed my battle," he added.

Rohit Sharma is currently representing the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The veteran opener was removed from the captaincy before the start of the season. However, the team became the first team to be eliminated from the tournament.

The former MI skipper has scored 349 runs in 13 matches at a disappointing average of 29.08 and a strike rate of 145.42. Notably, the opening batter scored 297 runs in the initial seven games of the IPL 2024 with an average of 49.50 and a strike rate of 164.09.

Rohit Sharma will next be seen in action when the Mumbai Indians face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at their home ground, Wankhede Stadium, on May 17, Friday.
