Under-fire Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has revealed that even MS Dhoni cannot teach him what failure has taught him in the last two months as MI skipper.

Hardik Pandya made these comments during a conversation with Star Sports recently and therein he stated the things that are stuck inside his heart. The all-rounder will be in action later tonight when the Sunrisers Hyderabad visit the Wankhede stadium to take on the Mumbai Indians for match number 55.

Hardik Pandya opens up on responsibility

While speaking to Star Sports, Hardik Pandya shed light on why he likes to lead from the front and why he is so keen on taking on larger responsibilities. Pandya claimed that he has always been someone who loves to take responsibility. By doing so, he feels that a particular thing becomes his own and it becomes far more personal.

And when things become personal, they start to become a lot more important, and with that comes a lot of seriousness. Hardik Pandya further claimed that taking responsibility means that in case of making mistakes, one can actually own it up and that gives a person the chance to improve and learn.

Hardik Pandya claimed that failure is a very good thing that teaches a person a lot of things that they never knew before. The all-rounder then stated that even the biggest of idols and inspirational figures cannot teach what failure teaches you. He then mentioned MS Dhoni in that regard, claiming that even he cannot teach him what failure does.

"Responsibility-wise, I was always someone who wanted responsibility because when you own your things, it kind of becomes more personal to you."

"So for me, it was always about owning my mistake and at the same point of time taking those chances, maybe failing and learning. That experience no one can teach you - not your closest aide, not your idol, to some extent not even Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni) when he was around," Hardik Pandya said via Star Sports.

It definitely goes without saying that Hardik Pandya has learned quite a lot of things from the IPL 2024 season as the new Mumbai Indians captain. The first thing he might have learned is that it's not easy to replace someone like Rohit Sharma as the leader of the team.

The second thing he might have learned is that he shouldn't have left Gujarat Titans in such a manner in spite of winning the IPL once as captain. Third will be - how to manage the players in the dressing room who are used to the instructions given by Rohit Sharma.

The 4th and final is that he now knows very well as to who supported him in this tough journey and who criticized him in this while.

Pandya to be in action tonight against SRH

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians will be in action tonight when they welcome the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede stadium tonight. In their previous meeting this season, SRH had handed MI a very heavy loss at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium and it remains to be seen if Mumbai can win tonight.
