Former Australia National Cricket Team batter Michael Clarke has reacted to the reports of Virat Kohli retiring from Test cricket. He said that the India National Cricket Team batter has a lot of runs in him, and he hopes that the rumours aren't true.

India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli has been in the news for the last few days. This is because the right-hander has told the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he wants to move away from Test cricket and play just the ODIs.

Virat Kohli's decision came ahead of the squad announcement of the Indian team for the England Test series. This all but drops a massive hint that the right-hander won't be part of the five-match Test series, which will also start the new edition of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27.

Virat Kohli has been thinking about his retirement since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

The reports also confirmed that Virat Kohli has been thinking about his retirement since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. If the media reports are to be believed, then the last game of the series in Sydney was his last, where he didn't have a great outing with the bat.

Kohli's decision to retire has sent shockwaves among the cricket fraternity. Even the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was amazed by the decision, and they asked the batter to rethink his decision, telling him that the team needed a guiding hand.

BCCI reportedly has told someone influential to talk to Virat Kohli to change his decision

The governing body reportedly has told someone influential to talk to Kohli to change his decision. The discussions are underway between the two bodies, and the decision related to it will be announced in the coming few days.

His decision comes as a surprise because recently Rohit Sharma called time on his career in Tests. Now, if Kohli retires too, this will leave the India National Cricket Team completely in the hands of youngsters, and there will be a fragile batting order.

I believe Virat still has a lot of Test runs in him and any team with him in it is a better team - Michael Clarke

Amid all this, Michael Clarke has shared his take on Virat Kohli's decision. He said that he hopes rumours are not true and that any team with him is the better team. Speaking to RevSportz, he said:

“I hope the rumours aren’t true. I believe Virat still has a lot of Test runs in him and any team with him in it is a better team.”

Kohli, no doubt, has been far ahead of many in the Tests. The India National Cricket Team batter has made a massive impact in the format, and it's fair to say that he is keeping the format alive and kicking. The batter has slammed 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85 in the 123 games that he has played in the longest format of the game.
