Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan feels that India will defeat England during the home Test series next year. According to Michael Vaughan, it will be tough for England to win against India on Indian soil.
England team will tour India for a Test series next year in January under ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. During the away series, England will face India in five tests. The series will commence on January 25 with the opening Test. The final Test will begin on March 7.
Would Expect India To Win The Series Against England: Michael Vaughan
During a conversation on Cricbuzz, former England all-rounder Michael Vaughan was asked whether England’s bazball style will be good enough to win in India. To this, Vaughan said he doubts Bazball’s success on Indian soil due to turning wickets. He also feels that India might win the series against England.
“Will it be good enough to win in India, that’s the big question. I very much doubt it because India don’t lose at home often particularly when it’s turning square. Would expect India to win the series but the big Indian crowds will be back because they’ll want to watch them ( England),” Vaughan said.
The cricketer-turned-commentator also added it will be tough for England to get 20 wickets against India without a world-class spinner.
“Can England get 20 wickets without a world-class spinner? It’ll be the ultimate challenge but they’ll play their Bazball style and try to put India under pressure,” the 48-year-old further said.
England and India last faced each other in July last year. During the series, India played a rescheduled Test against England which they lost by 7 wickets.
The series ended in a 2-2 draw. During the England tour in 2021, India gained a 2-1 lead in four games. The 5th Test was postponed due to Covid-19 cases inside the Indian camp.
