It feels like the former England captain and cricket pundit Michael Vaughan has taken on the role of a predictor lately. Michael Vaughan hasn’t been missing any opportunity to troll and downplay England, thanks to the poor performances of both the men’s and women’s teams.

Recently, after England lost their ODI series at home to South Africa, Vaughan boldly declared the hosts as the winners of the ICC World Cup 2027.

The former England captain has straightforwardly announced the Australia Women's National Cricket Team as the “winners” of the upcoming ICC Women's World Cup 2025 on his social media handle.

Sharing the Australian ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 squad on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, September 5, Vaughan posted, “And the winners are 👇👇👇.”

Meanwhile, CA has named a strong 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, and they already look like favourites to defend their title. Alyssa Healy, who is set to play her third ODI World Cup, will lead the Australian side in the tournament.

They are the most successful team in the Women’s Cricket World Cup’s history with seven titles, and they are aiming to add another to their collection in India and Sri Lanka. Ten players from their last World Cup-winning squad in 2022 were named in the squad.

Apart from Healy, the Australian squad features big names like Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, and Tahlia McGrath, whose experience and match-winning ability will play a key role in their campaign. The left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux, who recently recovered from a knee injury, has also been named in the squad for the upcoming event.

Sophie Molineux, along with Alana King and Georgia Wareham, forms a strong spin attack that could trouble any batting lineup. Additionally, young batting sensation Georgia Voll has been handed her first World Cup ticket. The 20-year-old is seen as one of the brightest prospects in Australian cricket.

Indian and Sri Lankan culture is very different: Alyssa Healy

She will be eager to showcase her talent on the biggest stage in India and Sri Lanka. On the other hand, Nicole Faltum and Charli Knott will play in the three-match ODI series against India, but they have not been named in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 squad.

They will kick off their ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 campaign with a high-voltage clash against rivals New Zealand in Indore on October 1, and Alyssa Healy is excited to play in India and Sri Lanka.

She stated, “The culture is very different, but I think the way they just love their cricket, approach it, and are fanatical about their cricket makes me think it's a great place to go as a cricketer. I'm looking forward to that, obviously, but the cricket conditions pose a different challenge to our group, which I think we are really well placed for.”
