Former England captain Michael Vaughan has taken a sharp swipe at Pakistan, branding them as the worst Pakistan side he has ever witnessed in their cricket history. Vaughan’s harsh comments came after Shan Masood and his team's staggering an innings and 47-run defeat in the first Test against England in Multan.
Despite scoring a mammoth 556 in their first innings, the Pakistan cricket team succumbed to England's sheer dominance and conceded a 0-1 lead to the tourists in the ongoing three-match Test series at home.

Pakistan cricket team achieved an unfortunate record with this embarrassing defeat, becoming the first team in Test cricket to lose by an innings after posting over 550 runs in the first innings.
England’s response was nothing short of extraordinary, declaring their first innings at 823/7 with a blistering pace of over five runs and overscoring, as they completely outclassed the Pakistan side in the first Test at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
England’s disciplined bowling and role clarity highlighted the vast gap between the two sides. On a pitch that seemed placid at first, Pakistan's second inning crumbled to 220, handing England an innings and 47-run win.
This massive defeat has cast a shadow over the hosts' selection and tactics, with Vaughan really baffled by their performance in Multan. Meanwhile, England’s risk-free yet aggressive approach has left the commentator in awe.

Vaughan noted that England players stuck to their task bravely and were right up for the challenge against Pakistan, and that was something he was really impressed with.
Michael Vaughan wrote in his column for The Telegraph: “This is the worst Pakistan side I can remember. But to make 823 for seven at 5.5 runs an over while taking few risks and looking in total control is very special. The most impressive thing for me was the way the bowling attacks combined.
"You could tell what everyone’s role was. And they stuck to their task gallantly and were right up for the challenge, which is exactly what Brendon McCullum wants to see.”
However, the former England captain questioned certain bowling choices, including the selection of Shoaib Bashir over the more experienced Jack Leach as the front-line spinner in Multan.

Vaughan has suggested that the finger spinner should be given priority and mentioned how Leach starred with the ball for England by taking eight wickets in the Multan Test.
Vaughan further noted, “The one selection point I was not sure about at the start of the summer was opting for Shoaib Bashir over Leach as the front-line spinner. I can see Bashir’s potential, but Leach out-bowled him in Multan and had a very good season for Somerset. I am a bit old-school with spin bowling.
Your finger spinner just needs to bowl, bowl, bowl. That is the way to learn, get used to conditions, and make subtle variations to your release point and angle of attack. Bashir just has not bowled that much this summer.”
