Former England captain Michael Vaughan has praised ace batter Joe Root following his 35th century during the first Test match against Pakistan. Michael Vaughan said that no bowler can trouble Joe Root at the moment in Test cricket except for Team India pace bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.

The Yorkshire batter became England's highest run-scorer in Test cricket during the ongoing Test against Pakistan in Multan. On Day 3, Root surpassed Sir Alastair Cook's total of 12,472 runs. Overall, the right-handed batter moves up to fifth place in the list of all-time leading run-getters in Test cricket.

The former England captain has been in exceptional form in recent years. Root has scored 18 out of his 35 Test centuries since 2020. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar (51) leads the list of most Test centuries, followed by Jacques Kallis (45), Ricky Ponting (41), Kumar Sangakkara (38), and Rahul Dravid (36).

Bowlers Are Waiting for Joe Root To Make A Mistake - Michael Vaughan

In his column for The Telegraph, Michael Vaughan said that all batters will struggle against high-quality Jasprit Bumrah, and Joe Root is no exception. Vaughan added that modern bowlers are waiting for Root to make mistakes. He stated that Root is planning how to handle Bumrah next summer.

"To be as good as he is you have to pick up the ball so quickly out of the hand, which gives him that extra bit of time. The only bowler he does not quite line up is Jasprit Bumrah, I reckon, but who does? He will already be working on that and thinking about how to manage him next summer," Michael Vaughan wrote.

"At the moment, bowlers are waiting for him to make a mistake. There is still plenty for him to tick off, including that missing hundred in Australia. But I watch him bat in Australia and do not see a major technical problem, he just has not cracked three figures yet," Michael Vaughan added.

The 33-year-old batter is the leading run-scorer in Test cricket since 2021. Root has scored 4,755 runs from 50 matches at an average of 57.98, including 18 centuries and 15 fifties. Taking to the Multan Test match, he remained unbeaten at 176 runs off 277 balls, including 12 fours, at Stumps on the third day.
