Former England captain Michael Vaughan has suggested what he termed as a ‘simple solution’ to the alleged request made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to reschedule the start and end of the five-match Test series between the two nations so that the board can use the available September window to finish IPL 2021.
The 14th edition of the IPL was suspended for an indefinite period of time earlier this month due to multiple Covid cases across four different franchises.
According to a report published in ESPNCricinfo, the BCCI has requested the ECB to bring forward the start and end of the five-Test series.
The series is originally scheduled to start on August 04 in Nottingham and finish on September 15 at Old Trafford.
Should the series end in the first week of September, it will BCCI a clear three-week window to complete the IPL.
However, the move will heavily jeopardize ECB’s domestic scheduling as it is set to host the inaugural season of the Hundred between July 21-August 21.

The proposal, if agreed by the ECB, will also have an impact on England Test players’ availability for the Hundred.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan, however, seems to have a ‘simple solution for the same.
According to Vaughan, the first Test between India and England should be brought forward by one week by the ECB and in return, the BCCI should allow its fringe players to participate in the Hundred.
However, that would mean a significant departure from the BCCI’s policy of not allowing its cricketers in foreign leagues.
“Simple solution .. Play the First Indian Test a week earlier .. No England Test players would then potentially play the 100 so Fringe Indian Test players replace them .. Then the IPL can finish .. Good deal around all around ..” he said.
