Misbah-Ul-Haq Is Clueless As A Coach: Salman Butt

Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has expressed his frustration with Misbah-Ul-Haq’s coaching style as the national team succumbed to a 3-0 ODI series defeat against England’s second-string outfit. England outclassed Pakistan in all three facets in the three ODIs as they bounced back from the uncertainties grappling them due to the COVID-19 outfit. Salman Butt remarked that Misbah makes statements without any substance attached to them.

In the first two ODIs, Pakistan’s batting cost them as their batting mainstay and captain Babar Azam failed to make substantial scores. Babar Azam started the series with 0 and 19 before smashing 158 in the final ODI in Edgbaston as tourists set 332 to win for England. But on this occasion, their bowling was the culprit as it failed to defend a mammoth score. Pakistan’s poor fielding effort was also one of the significant factors.

Salman Butt remarked that despite saying the performance is undefendable, Misbah-Ul-Haq tried his best to do the opposite and did not accept they failed. The former Pakistan opener stated that Misbah kept justifying the backing of certain players, indicating the coach has no idea what he is talking about.

“Misbah said the performance is undefendable, but he tired his best to defend it. If you say it is undefendable, then just say ‘We weren’t the better team. We have failed in our execution and strategy’. He is just repeating the justifications of why he is backing certain players. This shows that you are also not at par with your position, and you have no idea what you are talking about,” Butt told in his Youtube channel.

‘Why didn’t you try the other leg-spinner?’ : Salman Butt

Salman Butt further questioned the reason behind not allowing Usman Qadir to play despite Shadab Khan’s underwhelming performances. The 36-year old stated that Misbah used Shadab’s fielding and batting as an excuse without ignoring his main skill. Butt reckoned that the former Pakistan captain picked the ones who are not complete players.

Why didn’t you try the other leg-spinner? The amount of matches that he has played, he has performed better than the rest. A person’s (Shadab Khan) main skill is weak, but you are using his batting and fielding skills as excuses. You are finding eleven players who are jack of all trades, master of none,” he added.
