Travis Head Leads in Mitchell Marsh’s Absence

Australia won the toss and chose to bat first in the Group B match against Ireland. With Mitchell Marsh unavailable, Travis Head will lead the side.

This tournament marks the first time since 2011 that Australia are playing a World Cup without Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood. The team is also missing Tim David, who is recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up while playing for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.

Wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will open the innings alongside Travis Head. Matt Renshaw and Cooper Connolly have been given opportunities in the middle order. Nathan Ellis will lead the pace bowling attack, while veteran leg-spinner Adam Zampa will be crucial in Sri Lanka conditions.
