Australia National Cricket Team batter Mitchell Owen has joined Punjab Kings for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The cash-rich is all set to resume on Saturday (17th May) with the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders.

With IPL 2025 all set to resume in just a couple of days, foreign players who went back home have started joining their teams. The league was notably suspended due to the tensions between India and Pakistan at the border.

Mitchell Owen, who was named as a replacement for Glenn Maxwell, has also joined the Punjab Kings. He was acquired by the franchise for INR 3 crore, but his availability was a big concern because of his stint with the Pakistan Super League (IPL) 2025.

When he was signed as a replacement, it was reported that he would join Punjab Kings only after fulfilling his commitments in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Peshawar Zalmi. However, he has ditched the franchise to take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, even though his team has a chance to qualify.

Mitchell Owen has been one of the finest youngsters in Australian Cricket. He came into the limelight with his magical performances in the Big Bash League. The right-hander finished as the leading run-scorer last season while playing for the Hobart Hurricanes and also slammed a century in the final.

Mitchell Owen slammed a century in just 39 balls that helped Hobart Hurricanes win the maiden BBL title. He ended with an innings of 108 off 42 balls with six fours and 11 sixes and helped the Hurricanes chase 183 with 35 balls to spare.

Mitchell Owen couldn't carry on the same success in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. The Australia National Cricket Team player slammed 102 runs from seven innings at an average of 14.57 and a strike-rate of 192.45. He also played for the Paarl Royals in the SA20 2025.

Punjab Kings are having a terrific time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, they have looked like one of the favourites to win the tournament. They are just one win away from reaching the playoffs, as they have played a magnificent brand of cricket throughout the tournament.

Punjab Kings are placed third on the points table. The Shreyas Iyer-led side has 15 points from 11 games as they have won 7 games and have lost 3 games. With the way they are playing, they are looking for one of the hot favourites to win the IPL 2025.
