Mitchell Starc equals Kapil Dev, moves closer to Top 10 in Tests
Mitchell Starc has reached another huge milestone in his Test career. With 434 wickets in Test cricket, the Australian fast bowler has equalled the Indian legend Kapil Dev’s tally to become the joint 11th-highest wicket-taker in the longest format of the game.
The 1983 World Cup winner took 434 wickets in 131 Tests between 1978 and 1994. Starc has now matched that number in just 106 Tests and has moved to joint 11th place among the highest wicket-takers in Test history. The 36-year-old is also very close to entering the top 10.
Starc needs only six more wickets to overtake former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn, who has 439 wickets from 93 Tests, and join the list of all-time top-10 wicket-takers in Test cricket. Amid this, Hasan Mahmud's historic 6-wicket haul bowls out Australia for lowest ever score.
