England teammates Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali recently played the popular 'Start, Bench, Sell' game, a game that is more popular among football fans and players.

For those who don't know, the players are given the names of three players in this game and are asked to choose one they would start in the playing eleven, one they would sell, and one they would bench. The concept of benching or selling a player is not prevalent in international cricket but it happens in IPL.

Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid tried their hand at the game and could not have received tougher options. The World Cup winners had to make a tough choice as they were asked to play the game with three of modern cricket's most decorated batsmen as options.

Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid play 'Start, bench, sell':

The three options that Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid got were Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and Brian Lara. Tendulkar is arguably the most decorated batsman of all time while Lara is not very far behind. He is widely considered one of the greatest-ever batters to grace the game.

On the other hand, Kohli is regarded as the best all-format player of this generation. No player has managed to score as heavily as Kohli across formats in the last one decade or so.

Tendulkar retired from the game as the highest run-scorer in Tests and ODIs. He also held the record for most centuries in Tests and ODIs as well as international cricket. Tendulkar scored 15921 runs in Tests including 51 centuries and 18426 runs in ODIs with the help of 49 tons. He was also the first-ever player to hit a double-century in the 50-over format of the game.

Lara, on the other hand, retired after scoring 11953 runs in Tests and 10405 runs in ODIs. The former West Indies batter also hit 34 Test tons and 19 ODI centuries.

Kohli, on the other hand, has scored 9230 runs in Tests and 14181 runs in ODIs. In 2023, he also broke Tendulkar's record for most ODI centuries and became the first-ever player to hit 50 ODI tons. So far, he has scored 51 ODI tons and 30 Test tons.

As soon as Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali were given the three options, both of them admitted that it would be a tough choice. They began by asking the format and were told that it would be the 50-over format. After a brief discussion, Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid picked Kohli to start.

Both the England stars then said that Lara has always been their favorite and picked up for the bench before being left with no option but to sell Tendulkar.
