Moeen Ali's parent in POK during Operation Sindoor!! KKR veteran reveals spine-chilling story

Moeen Ali revealed that his parents were in the POK when India launched missiles as a part of Operation Sindoor. Ali was one of the players who didn’t come to India for the remainder of IPL 2025.
Ali has roots in Pakistan, and he was with his wife and kids in India, and his parents were in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) at the time of Operation Sindoor.
Moeen Ali’s experience during India-Pak war
Moeen Ali stated that he didn’t think that things would escalate rapidly. Ali was in India playing for KKR, and his parents were in POK. The English all-rounder wants to be safe and leave the country.
Ali’s parents managed to get the flights on the Operation Sindoor day, and they got out of POK on the same day. Ali was glad that his parents got out of the crisis.
“My parents were actually in Kashmir at the time… in Pakistan, only about an hour away from where the strikes happened probably. Maybe a bit farther. So it was a bit crazy and then they managed to get the only flights out actually on that day. I was glad they got out, but it was crazy,” Moeen mentioned on the Beard before Wicket podcast.
“It was mad, obviously there were those attacks in Kashmir before everything really kicked off. Then within no time things just rapidly escalated and all of a sudden we’re in the middle. It felt like we’re in the middle of a war, but obviously we didn’t hear anything (like missiles striking).
All of a sudden you’re just scrambling to get out of the country and just to make sure obviously your family’s fine. People are worried about you back home and just to make sure they’re at ease as well.” Moeen Ali recalls his experience.
Ali felt that he was in the middle of the war when the missiles struck.
Moeen Ali’s reaction to Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match suspension mid-way
The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was suspended mid-way due to security concerns. Some guys told Ali that there would not be a war; these things had happened before, also, but some fans were worried and were thinking that there would be a war.
Ali blames the media and journalists because there was so much lying going on at the time, and it became hard to trust any person or news.
“People weren’t quite sure what was happening and how things were like. I spoke to a lot of the guys. Some of the guys were like ‘there won’t be a war, everything will be fine. These things have happened before’. Some guys were like, ‘I think there’ll be a war, I think there’ll be some sort of retaliation or whatever you want to call it’, Ali stated.
There’s so much lying going on, that it’s hard to believe people — the news outlets in particular and the journalists. You don’t know exactly what’s going on, so that’s the scary bit because you don’t know what’s exactly going on, you don’t know where to stand, you don’t know if things are going to kick off quickly. Ali added.
The safety of Ali's family was the most important thing for Ali at the time of crisis. Ali was out of the tournament before the BCCI suspended IPL 2025.
Moeen Ali praises KKR management
KKR management took care of Ali and his family. Ali mentioned that he did not demand anything at that time, but KKR tried to support him as much as they could.
Ali also added that he couldn’t think that only a border is separating Indians and Pakistanis, as they are the same people, food is the same, and everything’s the same.
"I genuinely believe these are the same people, obviously just split by borders, exactly the same people, good people on both sides. Amazing food is the same, everything’s the same,” said Moeen Ali.
