Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir picked the Champions Trophy final against India as one of his best career memories. Mohammad Amir emphasized that dismissing Virat Kohli in the summit clash was a significant moment for him, as he is the best player of this era.
The Men in Green hammered the Indian team by 180 runs in the final match of the 2017 Champions Trophy. Pakistan set a target of 339 runs for the opposition team and then bowled out the Indian team for just 158 runs to secure the victory in the title encounter.
Such A Wonderful Game – Mohammad Amir
In a conversation with the Times of India, Mohammad Amir stated that he managed to dismiss Virat Kohli, despite a dropped catch off the previous ball.
“The Champions Trophy final will always remain close to my heart. That was such a wonderful game and a one-sided one. Pakistan won that comfortably. Dismissing Virat was a big moment for me,” Amir told the Times of India.
“When he (Virat) was dropped (by Azhar Ali), I was disappointed but off the very next ball I wanted to get rid of him and I did that. That was a huge moment for me. As a cricketer, I am a huge fan of Virat Kohli’s. I always say Virat is the best player of this era. Dismissing him was the best moment for me (vs India).”
Amir was the standout performer for Pakistan, claiming three early wickets to break the backbone of the Indian batting lineup. He finished with figures of 3 wickets for 16 runs in his 6 overs, dismissing Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan.
India Should Come To Pakistan To Play – Mohammad Amir
Mohammad Amir believes that the bilateral cricket series between India and Pakistan should resume. He emphasized the substantial viewership generated when these neighbouring nations face off in matches.
“Yes, why not? There should be India vs Pakistan bilateral series. Pakistan should visit India and India should come to Pakistan to play a bilateral series. If you ask these two teams – Pakistan and India – they will say let the government decide, but the fans want an India vs Pakistan bilateral series,” Amir added.
“More than the players, fans want this. When India play Pakistan in the World Cup, it gets huge viewership, people take off from their offices and are glued to their television screens. It is huge. To increase more and more interest among fans, there should be a bilateral series between these two countries.”
India have not visited its neighbouring country since the 2008 Asia Cup. Pakistan last visited India for a bilateral series in 2012. The two teams only meet in ICC and ACC tournaments.
