Mohammad Azharuddin Feels Umran Malik Deserves To Be Part Of India's Test Team

Former India National Cricket Team captain Mohammad Azharuddin believes that the Jammu and Kashmir express pacer Umran Malik deserves to be picked for India’s Test team.

Umran Malik impressed everyone with his express pace bowling in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The pacer possesses the ability to bowl the deliveries consistently at over 150kmph and he has won the award for the fastest delivery of match 14 consecutive times in the IPL 2022.

The 22-year-old Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer’s brilliant performance in the tournament helped him get his maiden India call-up for the forthcoming T20I series against the Temba Bavuma-led side.

The five-match T20I series between India and South Africa will commence on June 9 in Delhi. Also, the remaining 4 games of the series will be held in Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, and Bengaluru respectively.

Former India captain took to Twitter to assert that Umran should be part of India’s Test team. He added that managing the express pacer’s workload will be very crucial otherwise he would suffer injuries. Azharuddin was also hopeful of Umran getting proper support from the team management.

Meanwhile, Umran Malik was able to bag 22 wickets in 14 games in the league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

He picked his wickets at an average of 20.18, an economy of 9.03 and a strike rate of 13.40, including a four-wicket haul and a five-wicket haul.
