A talented 'Pakistan A' squad for the ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2024 has been announced. Mohammad Haris will be the captain of the team for the second successive year after leading the side in the tournament's 2023 edition as well.

The squad has a good blend of talented youths and some experienced individuals who have already represented Pakistan at the international level. Haris himself has played 6 ODIs and 9 T20Is for Pakistan and is considered a player for the future.

Under his leadership, Pakistan became the Emerging Asia Cup champion in the last edition by defeating India in the final. Mohammad Haris is also seen as a potential captain of Pakistan.

The 23-year-old recently led Stallions, which had the likes of Babar Azam and Shan Masood, in the Champions One-Day Cup 2024. The wicketkeeper-batter will be expected to do a similar job this year as well.

Mohammad Haris to lead a strong Pakistan A squad for Emerging Asia Cup 2024

Apart from Mohammad Haris, some of the other international players in the squad are Haider Ali, Zaman Khan, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Abbas Afridi. Haider Ali has struggled for form after arriving in international cricket but will be looking to make a strong case for himself here.

The main focus of this squad selection seems to be the fast bowling. They have some high-quality fast bowlers in the form of Zaman Khan, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Abbas Afridi, who are both talented and experienced as well.

In the past few months, Pakistan's premier fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah have been struggling. With the country's fast bowling resources under a scanner, Zaman, Dahani, and Abbas Afridi will be aiming to make a mark here.

The squad also included the young and talented wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah Khan. The left-hander is an Under-19 product and is a quality opener too. Abdul Samad, who impressed with his late-overs hitting in the Champions One-Day Cup recently, has also found a place in the squad.

Players like Omair Yousuf, Qasim Akram, Mehran Mumtaz, and Sufyan Moqim were also a part of the squad for the last edition along with the captain Mohammad Haris. These players will be looking to defend the trophy that they lifted last year.

The Emerging Asia Cup 2024 will be played from October 18-27. The tournament is being played in the T20 format, unlike the ODI format last year. Eight teams are participating in the tournament with six full members.
