Former India batsman Mohammad Kaif has responded to Jasprit Bumrah after the latter dismissed his criticism in a social media post.
It all started when Mohammad Kaif took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight that Bumrah has not been giving his best to avoid injury.
Kaif had pointed out India's weakness due to Bumrah
The former cricketer-turned-commentator said that Bumrah has been bowling in the early part of the innings under Suryakumar Yadav's captaincy to avoid any injury.
Mohammad Kaif also stated that it was not the same case under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, indirectly hinting that the pacer might be undermining the current captaincy.
"Bumrah under Rohit would generally bowl overs 1, 13, 17, 19. Under Surya, in Asia Cup, he bowled a three-over spell at the start. To avoid injury, Bumrah these days prefers to bowl while his body is warmed up," wrote Mohammad Kaif on X.
Bumrah snapped back
He further stated that the strategy of bowling three overs at the start has been helping the opposition batters, writing: 1 over of Bumrah in the remaining 14 overs is a huge relief for batters. Against stronger teams at the World Cup, this could hurt India."
However, Jasprit Bumrah not only disagreed with Kaif's observation but also responded to it on social media. Re-sharing Kaif's post, Bumrah wrote: "Inaccurate before inaccurate again."
Mohammad Kaif responds
After being called out by Bumrah, Kaif responded to the India star's post on Friday (September 26). Kaif urged Bumrah not to take his message the wrong way and also hailed him as Indian cricket's biggest match-winner.
"Please take this as a cricketing observation from a well-wisher and an admirer. You are Indian cricket's biggest match-winner and I know what it takes to give it all when on field wearing India colours," Kaif wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Bumrah and his India teammates are currently gearing up for the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan.
The match is scheduled to be played on Sunday in Dubai. Before the final, India will face Sri Lanka on Friday. The Men in Blue have already defeated Pakistan twice in the ongoing tournament and will be fancying their chances in the final as well.
