Pakistan National Cricket Team's keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and their senior opener Imam-ul-Haq reportedly attended a session of inquiry by the investigative officials.
According to the latest news reports published in the Pakistani media outlet Geo News, Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq are two cricketers who were asked a set of questions by the investigative officials of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq face two hours of interrogation
The interrogations are believed to continue for a couple of hours, without reaching any conclusion. Both members of the team, Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq, are expected to face the NCCIA officials again, as they urged additional time to provide further responses.
According to the media reports, published on September 11, Rizwan and Imam were investigated at the NCCIA headquarters in Lahore's Johar Town. Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were among those seven cricketers who were dropped midway through the ongoing three-match Test series against England.
PCB sacked seven cricketers and coaches of their Test team
Previously, it was reported that three cricketers were under the radar of the investigators; Rizwan and Haq were those two cricketers in three. However, the name of the third person remains under cover.
Snubbing seven cricketers alongside the head coach of the Test team, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and his assistant coach, Umar Gul, was itself enough to spark a series of speculations around the Pakistan cricket circle. The decision to reshape the Test team came after two heavy defeats against England in Leeds and London.
Initially, it was assumed the axing was because of the team's poor form. Later, reports claiming internal issues, which might go beyond the on-field performance, started to surface across social media platforms.
It was also reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took some of its players' devices, including their phones, into custody. The devices could be crucial parts of the investigation process.
From snubbing players to taking the devices into custody, alongside claims of internal issues, raised concerns over Pakistan cricket. As there are only speculations, not any concrete information, the cricket board has yet to issue an official statement regarding its actions against its players.
Earlier this week, the PCB confirmed that an internal disciplinary inquiry had been launched following reports about issues related to "discipline and conduct" based on some media allegations. Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Agha, Ali Usman, Aamer Jamal, Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad were the seven cricketers who were dropped from the side after the Test match at Lord's.
England is likely to whitewash the Pakistan cricket team
In their place, the Pakistan Cricket Board brought in two capped cricketers, Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal, and five uncapped cricketers, including Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Saad Baig, Mohammad Imran Randhawa and Razaullah.
21-year-old Razaullah turned out to be the most surprising element in the ongoing Test match in Birmingham because of his pure pace. The fast bowler is capable of bowling at around 145 kmph. Still, Pakistan is likely to suffer a whitewash in England, but they are fighting in the second innings.
