Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Mohammad Rizwan oozed his class with the bat in the ongoing game against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The first game of the series between the teams is taking place at the Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
Rizwan came up with a superlative effort with the bat in the ongoing Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. He bailed his team out of trouble when they lost early wickets and were under serious pressure in the first game of the series.
Rizwan, along with Saud Shakeel, brought the Pakistan National Cricket Team back into the game and ensured that he silenced all the critics. Ahead of the game, there was a lot of discussion around his place in the team, especially with Sarfaraz Ahmed being there as well in the squad.
However, Rizwan silenced all the critics and made sure that he came up with a massive innings. The keeper-batter slammed a glorious century and put his team at the top. He, along with Shakeel (141), added 240 runs for the 5th wicket and helped the team post a big total on the board.
Mohammad Rizwan, even after scoring a ton, looked focused and was even a double ton. But his dreams were shattered by the skipper Shan Masood. The Pakistan National Cricket Team captain declared the innings with an hour's play left as he attempted to unleash his pace attack late in the day.
Rizwan ended with an innings of unbeaten 171 runs off 239 balls. He slammed 11 fours and sixes in his innings, batting with a strike rate of around 73. His innings ensured that Pakistan went past 400 runs as the hosts ended their first innings on 448/6.
With the way Mohammad Rizwan was batting, he had a great opportunity to slam a double ton but wasn't allowed to. The move of skipper Shan Masood to unleash the pace attack in the last hour didn't work as Bangladesh National Cricket Team openers batted well and ensured that they ended the day without losing any wickets.
Rizwan's 171 not out in the ongoing Test against Bangladesh National Cricket Team is the closest score to a double-century by a Pakistan batter in a declared innings in Tests. The previous closest score was 168 not out by Zaheer Abbas against India in Lahore in 1984. Abbas notably was the captain too.
