Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan slipped and fell badly on the field as he attempted to kick a travelling football during the pre-match session of the Pakistani players ahead of the first Test vs South Africa.

South Africa is beginning their WTC title defence with their first Test series of this ICC WTC 2025-27 cycle against Pakistan. The series marks a two-match Test series to be played from the 12th of October to the 24th of October, at Lahore and Rawalpindi. This will be followed by a 6-match white-ball series.

Shan Masood continues to be the Pakistan Test skipper. Masood won the toss and opted to bat against the defending champions. Despite an early dismissal, the home side has fought back with a second-wicket partnership between Imam-ul-Haq and the skipper, Shan Masood.

Watch: Mohammad Rizwan falls while kicking a football

Before the first Test began at the Lahore Stadium in Pakistan, the Men in Green were having their pre-match warm-up session in the nets. Seasoned Pakistan batter Mohammed Rizwan was spotted on the field.

As a football charged towards him, he attempted to hit it on the volley and missed it by miles. He had a massive fall to the ground as he rolled over his shoulders, with the ground erupting in loud laughter.

Social media has also trolled the Pakistan skipper mercilessly, saying he doesn't fit in with Cricket and he is trying out at football.

Will Mohammad Rizwan be picked for the South Africa T20Is?

While Mohammad Rizwan has been cited as the first-choice wicket-keeper in the Pakistani side for the two-match red-ball series against South Africa, he has also been retained as their ODI skipper, with some faith shown in him by Mohsin Naqvi as well.

However, Mohammad Rizwan remains one of the two big names to have missed the Asia Cup, alongside Babar Azam. Rizwan is in talks to make a T20I comeback; however, the batter known usually for opening the innings cannot replace Sahibzada Farhan, who had shown promising form in the Asia Cup and was their highest run-getter against India.

Mohammad Rizwan's place in the T20I squad remains in doubt until it is announced somewhere between this week and next. However, his red-ball form has also been under major doubt, since after the West Indies series, he has played only 1 domestic red-ball game in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, where he scored an unbeaten 123.

South Africa hit an all-time low with a loss against Namibia

While the main team of the South African side has advanced to Pakistan, they selected a B team comprising some young and less-experienced players to play in the one-off T20 game against Namibia on the inauguration of the Namibia Cricket Ground.

The Ground was inaugurated keeping in mind the plans for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the nation alongside South Africa and Zimbabwe. Namibia, in a historic first game against South Africa, defeated the World T20I Champions, claiming their fourth victory over a full-member nation.

The match marked the return of South African veteran Quinton de Kock to international cricket; however, his reversal of retirement was in vain with the crushing defeat.
