Former Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf has been facing heavy criticism from all around for recently making a derogatory remark about India captain Suryakumar Yadav. As the handshake row rages on, several former Pakistani cricketers have been busy making objectionable comments.
Mohammad Yousuf also shared his views on the episode that took place during the Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan, but stooped to a new low by calling Suryakumar Yadav a 'pig' on live television.
Cricket fans thrash Yousuf
His comment came after Suryakumar-led India refused to shake hands with the Pakistani players due to the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year.
During the discussion, Mohammad Yousuf wanted to sound witty by deliberately mispronouncing Suryakumar's name as 'Suar Kumar'. Even though the anchor tried to correct him, Mohammad Yousuf made it clear that he had deliberately used a derogatory term for the Indian star by repeating the slur.
Mohammad Yousuf's bizarre explanation
Mohammad Yousuf has been facing heavy backlash on social media for his distasteful remark. On Tuesday (September 16), he took to X (formerly Twitter) to offer a bizarre explanation for his comment. The former cricketer bizarrely blamed former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan for his remarks, writing:
"I didn’t mean any disrespect to any sportsman who plays for his country with passion and grace. But why were the Indian media and people praising Irfan Pathan when he said that Shahid Khan Afridi was barking like a dog? Shouldn’t that have been rejected by everyone who talks about dignity and respect?"

PCB threatened to pull out of the Asia Cup 2025
The handshake row has spiraled into a huge controversy with Pakistan even threatening to pull out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 if match referee Andy Pycroft isn't suspended. The Pakistan Cricket Board had accused Pycroft of violating the code of conduct, saying that he played a big role in the entire saga.
Talking about the match, India thrashed Pakistan by seven wickets to book their place in the Super 4s. The Men in Blue will face Oman in their last group game.
