India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has taken a brutal dig at legspinner Amit Mishra for his latest remark on star India player Virat Kohli. Mishra had made headlines recently by claiming that Kohli is not the same person anymore and has changed with more 'fame and power' over the years.
The 41-year-old legspinner compared Kohli with Rohit Sharma and claimed that Rohit is still the same person and he can crack jokes with him even now. But his camaraderie is not the same with Kohli.
Mishra also spoke about Kohli's viral hug with Gautam Gambhir in IPL 2024, which grabbed a few headlines. Kohli and Gambhir were involved in a heated exchange of words after an IPL 2023 game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
But both the legends shared a hug in a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024 to bring an end to this dispute.
Mishra stated that it was Gautam Gambhir who initiated the end of the feud with Virat Kohli despite being a senior player. Mishra said that being a junior player to Gambhir, Kohli should have come forward to bring an end to the rivalry instead of Gambhir. The legspinner made shocking allegations that 'fame and power' has changed Kohli as a person.

Meanwhile, India pacer Mohammed Shami has denied the claims that Kohli has changed. While speaking on a podcast on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube channel, Shami lashed out at Amit Mishra by saying that people take Virat Kohli's name deliberately to receive attention.
"Many former cricketers know that whenever they say something against Virat (Kohli), their name will appear on the front page of the newspapers the next day, so they do it deliberately," Shami said.
Shami also claimed that Kohli and Ishant Sharma are his best friends in the team and always kept asking about their well-being when he was suffering the injury.
"Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma are my best friends. They constantly kept calling me when I was injured, the fast bowler added.

Mohammed Shami played a critical role in India's road to the ODI World Cup final in 2023. Despite playing just 7 matches in the tournament, he picked up 24 wickets at an average of just 10.70 and ended up being the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.
But the 33-year-old pacer has been out of action since then, He picked up an ankle injury during the World Cup which forced him to undergo Achilles Tendon surgery in London. However, he has resumed his training and is expected to join the Indian team for the home series against Bangladesh.
