India National Cricket Team bowling coach Morne Morkel provided a massive fitness update about Mohammed Shami ahead of the fifth T20I against the England National Cricket Team. He said that the pacer has been bowling well and will be playing the next game.

The situation surrounding Mohammed Shami has kept many excited as there is no clarity over the fitness of the fast bowler. The pacer was added to the team for the series after a long injury hiatus and then didn't play the first two games of the series, which raised a lot of speculations.

Shami then returned to the team for the third match of the series and had a decent outing with the ball. The India National Cricket Team pacer didn't take any wickets but bowled decent lines and lengths, giving away 25 runs in the three overs that he bowled.

It was expected that Shami would play the next game as well but in what was a massive shock, he again was dropped from the team. Arshdeep Singh replaced him on the side, and the fast bowler was rested, which raised many speculations about whether the pacer was fully fit or not.

Mohammed Shami also has been named in the ODI series against the England National Cricket Team followed by the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. But not playing continuously has made many wonder if the fast bowler is fit to play in the tournament or not.

Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel talked about the situation surrounding Mohammed Shami. He said that they are very happy with the pacer coming along and added that he will be getting an opportunity in the fifth game. Speaking to reporters, he said:

"Shami's been bowling well, catching to him at warm-ups... so very happy he's coming along. He's probably going to get an opportunity in the next game, we'll see how things go, but excited to have him back in the group."

Morne Morkel talked about the experience and the skills that Mohammed Shami brings to the table. He said that his presence is a massive boost for the youngsters and they are delighted that the senior pacer is back in the mix. He added:

"Just for him to share his experience and his knowledge at training is a massive boost for this young bowling unit and for Indian cricket, so yeah, great to have Shami back in the mix,"

India National Cricket Team have already sealed the five-match T20I series against England National Cricket Team. They won the fourth game by 15 runs to take an unassailable lead of 2-1. The next match will be played on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
