It won't be wrong to say that Indian cricket fans are desperately waiting to see Mohammed Shami in action. The India star has not played a competitive game since November last year due to an ankle injury.

Before suffering the injury setback, he was the toast of the nation thanks to his unbelievable exploits in the ODI World Cup. The World Cup did not start on the best of notes for him as he failed to find a spot in the playing eleven for the first four games.

He was finally included in the playing eleven after Hardik Pandya was ruled out of action due to an injury and did not look back. Despite not playing the first four games, Mohammed Shami went on to finish the World Cup as the highest wicket-taker, taking a staggering 24 wickets in 7 games with the help of 3 five-wicket hauls including a 7-fer against New Zealand in the semifinal.

While the Indian cricketing fraternity was busy praising Mohammed Shami for his stellar performance in the competition, not many knew that he did it while suffering from an ankle injury. The fast bowler had to take injections to continue playing in the competition. However, he did not let the injury stop him from serving the team although it eventually sidelined him for a long time.

Mohammed Shami's comeback date:

Mohammed Shami has not played a competitive game since the ODI World Cup final in November. He also had to undergo surgery for the injury. And as the fans eagerly wait for his return, RevSportz's Rohit Juglan has reported that he is unlikely to make his much-awaited return to action during the series against Bangladesh in September.

While Mohammed Shami was expected to be fit in time for the series against Sri Lanka later this month, he failed to recover in time. As a result, many are expecting him to be available for the series against Bangladesh that gets underway in September. However, Juglan has reported that Shami is unlikely to play against Bangladesh but is set to return to action during the 3-match Test series against New Zealand in October.
