Mohammed Siraj beats Matt Henry to win ICC Player of the Month award for August 2025

Mohammed Siraj, the Indian speedster, flushed the likes of Matt Henry and Jayden Seales to win the ICC Player of the Month award with his splendid performance in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He played just one match in the month of August and has been awarded for the same.
The ICC is known to have awarded several players with the Player of the Month award, since it motivates the players and helps them perform better in future instances. In the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which was played in England, Siraj outsmarted even the great Jasprit Bumrah and was the highest wicket-taker in the series.
The pacer was successful in attaining his career-best rankings in the ICC Men's Test bowling rankings after the final Test against England at the Oval. He successfully picked 23 wickets, of which 9 came in the last Test alone.
ICC picks Mohammed Siraj as the Player of the Month for August
For his exceptional performances, Mohammed Siraj won the ICC Player of the Month award for August 2025. Siraj delivered when India needed him the most; that was the series decider in the final game of the series.
He not only picked up many wickets in the game but also paved the way for India's spectacular comeback on the final day of the 5th Test. He, alongside Prasidh Krishna, had dismissed half of the English side, defending just 35 runs on the final day.
Siraj helped India seal a 2-2 draw; he has been rewarded as the ICC Men's Player of the Month. Siraj beat the likes of New Zealand pacer Matt Henry and West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales.
Mohammed Siraj cites 'ICC Player of the Month' as a special honour
After being picked as the Player of the Month by the ICC, he went on to make some tall claims about the immense honour imparted by the award.
“It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month,” Siraj said.
“The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was a memorable series, and it was one of the most intense contests I have been part of."
“I am proud that I could contribute with some important spells, especially in the decisive moments. Bowling against a top batting lineup in their home conditions was challenging, but it also brought out the best in me.
“This award belongs as much to my teammates and the support staff as it does to me, because their constant encouragement and belief kept me going.
“I will continue to work hard and give my best every time I wear the India jersey."
Irish all-rounder was coined as the ICC Women's Player of the Month for
Alongside the Men's ICC Player of the Month award, the ICC also encourages its women cricketers with the Player of the Month award. Ireland's premier all-rounder, Orla Prendergast, has been adjudged the ICC Women's Player of the Month.
She beat the likes of competitors from the Netherlands, all-rounder counterpart Iris Zwilling, and Pakistani wicket-keeper Muneeba Ali.
"I’m delighted to have received this award and would like to extend my thanks to the ICC and anyone who voted for me," she said after receiving the award.
"The T20I series win against Pakistan was the highlight of the summer. Additionally, we had a brilliant series of T20I and ODI wins against Zimbabwe and completed a clean sweep at the European T20 Qualifiers. We’ll be looking to build on these performances into our winter series and the Global T20 qualifiers in January," the Irish all-rounder added.
