"Siraj was guilty of breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match,” a statement from the ICC said.

"In addition to the fine, one demerit point has been added to Siraj's disciplinary record, for whom it was the second offence in a 24-month period, taking his tally to two demerit points," the statement added.

Mohammed Siraj Could Be Suspended if Demerit Points Increase

Mohammed Siraj could face suspension if he receives four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, as per ICC rules. While his recent conduct has drawn criticism, his performance in the Lord’s Test has been impressive.

Siraj picked up 2 wickets for 85 runs from 23.3 overs in England’s first innings. He added two more scalps for 31 runs in 13 overs during the second innings. The fast bowler dismissed Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett on the fourth day.

Siraj is currently the leading wicket-taker from both teams in the ongoing series. The 31-year-old has taken 13 wickets in three Tests at an average of 32.00, including one five-wicket haul. He picked up six wickets for 70 runs in the first innings of the second Test, where India secured a 336-run victory.

England Bowled Out For 192 Runs in Second Innings

India found themselves in early trouble. By stumps, they were reeling at 58 for 4, still needing 135 runs to win on the final day.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a duck. Karun Nair and KL Rahul tried to steady the innings. However, Nair and Shubman Gill were trapped lbw by Brydon Carse in quick succession. Ben Stokes dismissed nightwatchman Akash Deep in the final over of the day.
