Mohammed Siraj got injured during the Rajasthan Royals vs Gujarat Titans (RR vs GT) IPL 2026 match on April 4. It looked nasty as Siraj, the Gujarat Titans pacer, was visibly in pain. The match had to stop for a while.
On the first delivery of the fifth over of the first innings, Rajasthan Royals opener Viabhav Sooryavashi hit a delivery off Ashok Sharma hard. Mohammed Siraj dived in front to stop the ball from touching the boundary line. In the process, he injured himself. The replays show that Siraj ended up rolling over the ball and might have injured his groin area.

Medical staff rushed to the spot to take a look at Siraj. He quickly went outside the playing area, and the game continued after a brief pause.
A worrying sight for the Gujarat Titans!

Gujarat Titans sustained a setback before the match started. They named their playing combination without their captain and opener, Shubman Gill, as he has a muscle spasm. Afghanistan international Rashid Khan is acting as the stand-in captain for this match.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal played crucial knocks
Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi offered Rajasthan Royals a solid start inside the powerplay. Using his instinct, the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi took off smoothly as it was expected.
Jaiswal also supported him well during the initial stage of the match. Despite the strong start for the first wicket stand, RR, the away team for this game, scored 70 before Vaibhav Sooryavanshi lost his wicket. Experienced spinner Rashid Khan's spins clinched the batter. The southpaw departed after scoring 31 off 18. His opening partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, stood tall on the track and completed a half-century.
Mohammed Siraj back into the attack again
Relief for GT as the injury to Mohammed Siraj was not serious, as he went back to bowling again. However, the star Indian pacer was not at his best. As of now, he has conceded 39 runs in 3 overs without taking any wickets.
With Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel in the middle, the Rajasthan Royals are looking strong enough to claim a strong total over 200. GT needs to do something necessary to slow down the run rate of the opposing team.
In their previous match, Rajasthan got an emphatic win over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The bowling department of the team kept the power-packed CSK batting unit calm throughout the match and eventually claimed a comfortable win.
So far, RR's batting and bowling have both been performing well in the ongoing IPL season. Tonight's match is expected to be more competitive in the second innings as GT have multiple world-class batters in their line-up.
