Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mohsin Khan thanked veteran India pacer Mohammed Shami for supporting him during his injury rehabilitation. The left-arm fast bowler revealed that Shami mentored him ahead of IPL 2026, helping him overcome physical and mental challenges after a major surgery.

Lucknow Super Giants are currently at the bottom of the points table. Mohsin recently recorded impressive bowling figures of 5/23 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Earlier in the tournament, the young pacer also bowled a maiden over and dismissed opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

People Expect To See Me The Way... - Mohsin Khan Thanks Mohammed Shami

In a video shared by LSG, Mohsin Khan credited Mohammed Shami for acting like a big brother and providing constant motivation. Mohsin said that he used the training equipment given by Shami during his 15-month rehabilitation and stayed focused on meeting fans’ expectations.

“It had been almost 14-15 months since the operation. Shami bhai helped me a lot there. I would use all his equipment. He supported me a lot. People expect to see me the way I was before the surgery, so that’s my goal.”

Mohsin has taken nine wickets at an average of 11.33 and an economy rate of 6.38 so far this season. Lucknow Super Giants retained the left-arm pacer despite his severe shoulder injury in 2022 that nearly cost him his hand and a calf injury last year that limited his movement.

He Was So Afraid That He Couldn't Even Walk Or Run - Mohammed Shami On Mohsin Khan

Mohammed Shami described the fear Mohsin Khan felt when he first returned to training. Shami said that he spoke to the doctors to confirm it was safe before encouraging the young pacer to overcome his hesitation with jogging and catching drills.

“When he came, it was a very difficult time. He was so afraid that he couldn't even walk or run. It does feel a little uncomfortable at first. I asked him, ‘What are you afraid of?’ He said, ‘I just got my crutches removed, so I am not getting the confidence to jog comfortably.’ So, I spoke to the doctors and said, ‘Don’t worry. Even if something little happens, you’ll get to know. As long as he’s here, let him be.’”

Shami himself went through a serious ankle injury after the 2023 World Cup and spent a long time recovering before returning for the 2025 Champions Trophy. He understands the challenges of regaining rhythm after such setbacks.

Told Him To Stop Whenever He Feels Even The Slightest Discomfort - Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami explained how he monitored Mohsin Khan’s recovery closely. He advised the young pacer to keep pushing himself during training but to stop immediately if he felt any discomfort, ensuring a safe and steady return.

"Within 3-4 days, he started catching and jogging. Told him to stop whenever he feels even the slightest discomfort. But till that happens, you keep at it. Otherwise, we’ll go back by 5-6 months.”

Together, Shami and Mohsin have taken 16 wickets for Lucknow Super Giants this season. Fellow pacer Prince Yadav has also played a key role, picking up 13 wickets in the ongoing IPL campaign.
