Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi slammed the Pakistan National Cricket Team for their humiliating loss against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team in the first Test of the two-match series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

The Shan Masood-led side faced a 10-wicket thrashing against the Bangla Tigers to go down 0-1 in the series. This was the first-ever defeat of Pakistan against Bangladesh in the history of Test cricket as they had won 12 head-to-head contests and drew one match before the Rawalpindi clash.

Also, it was the first 10-wicket defeat of Pakistan in home Tests as their previous biggest defeat margin in terms of wickets remaining came against Sri Lanka in Dubai in 2014. Notably, at a point in time, Pakistan played their home matches in UAE.

The defeat came as a major shock to Pakistan as on the first four days, they performed decently and the match was heading towards a draw. However, on the final day, everything suddenly changed as a batting collapse restricted Pakistan to 146 runs. Bangladesh were given a modest target of 30 runs, which they chased down comprehensively.

One of the major blunders committed by Pakistan in the match was declaring the innings at the score of 448 when they had 4 wickets in hand to add more runs. Also, it was just the fourth instance of Pakistan losing a Test match in which they declared an innings.

Unfortunately, the Pakistan Cricket Team could not perform as well as it should have - Mohsin Naqvi

After the match, the PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, congratulated the Bangla Tigers on the historic win. He, however, was disappointed with the performance of his team and was hopeful of Shan Masood-led side making a good comeback.

"Bangladesh Cricket Team has played wonderfully, and have held their ground throughout the match. It is a historic win for they have won against Pakistan for the first time. Heartiest Congratulations to them! Unfortunately, the Pakistan Cricket Team could not perform as well as it should have. InshaAllah, the men in green would make a comeback in the upcoming match!" the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi wrote on X.

Also, Pakistan legend Mohammad Hafeez took a dig at Mohsin Naqvi after the match. He posted a cryptic 'surgery' message, reminding fans about Naqvi's remarks about doing major surgery on the Pakistan team post-T20 World Cup debacle.

"Surgery is On till death....," wrote the former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain on his official X handle.

Meanwhile, speaking at the post-match press conference, Pakistan skipper Shan Masood revealed that the conditions in Rawalpindi took them by surprise. He also spoke about mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed's absence from playing XI and hinted at his return for the second and final Test.

"Pitch and weather conditions for the Rawalpindi Test were totally against our expectations," he told the media.

"Abrar Ahmed didn't play any red-ball cricket before the Australia tour, due to which he was unpicked in the Test series against Australia. He recently played for Pakistan Shaheens. We hope Abrar will have good red ball practice before the second Test match," he added.
