ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had attended the ICC meeting in Dubai on Friday, and BCCI officials have once again brought up the Asia Cup Trophy controversy, hence forcing him to overturn his previous decision.

The Asia Cup Trophy controversy took over and has continued since Suryakumar Yadav led the Indian team in refusing to accept the Asia Cup trophy at the hands of PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi. He, too, had ruined the evening for the winners by walking out with the Trophy.

The Asia Cup Trophy, since then, has been kept locked at the ACC headquarters in Dubai, with Naqvi urging BCCI to send a player over to take it from his hands at the ACC headquarters.

Mohsin Naqvi attended the ICC Meeting in Dubai

One of the biggest shining elements of the evening on the 7th of November in Dubai marked Mohsin Naqvi's arrival at the ICC Meeting, after having avoided all ICC meetings for a long time. The meeting was conducted with a 4-day window between the 4th and 7th of November.

Mohsin Naqvi was not a part of any of the days over the week but finally appeared on the final day. His presence stirred up the spirits of the Indian officials who were looking for this opportunity to bring up the Asia Cup Trophy row.

The BCCI finally brought to the notice of the ICC that Mohsin Naqvi is misusing his powers at the head of the Asian Cricket Council and has wrongfully denied India their rightfully won title.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saika made a move against the ACC Chairman at the ICC meeting

Devajit Saikia, the current BCCI secretary, has made a move against the ACC chief as India's representative in the ICC meeting. It has been revealed that he has urged the Chairman to send the trophy over to India.

The discussion, it was learnt, was more informal in nature. In fact, the matter was discussed when the board members were found involved in regular chats between the team.

The ICC has informed that another panel might be formed if the issue is not solved; however, no such confirmation has been provided as of yet.

Saikia or other BCCI officials could not be immediately reached, but it is learnt that there was a sense of unanimity among the board members.

PCB to spoil India's T20 World Cup hosting hopes

The Indian board will be hosting the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which is to be co-hosted alongside the Sri Lanka Cricket Board in February 2026. The schedule is yet to be announced by the ICC but is expected anytime soon.

The PCB, however, signed a deal with BCCI ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, where they agreed not to feature in any game on each other's soil. India played their Champions Trophy games in Dubai, and Pakistan would hence play their World Cup matches in Sri Lanka.

The final or semi-final shall also be moved to Sri Lanka if Pakistan qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup knockouts.
