Mohsin Naqvi leaves Pakistan Cricket to be banned by ICC; decision to be announced soon

Rashid Latif highlighted that the former BCCI Secretary, who is now a powerful figure at the International Cricket Council (ICC), is fully aware of the ongoing tensions, and Pakistan cricket could even face suspension by India if matters escalate.

The former wicketkeeper mentioned how Mohsin Naqvi holds the rare dual role of Pakistan’s Interior Minister and PCB Chairman, apart from being the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) head. Latif felt the Pakistan minister’s role in the Asia Cup 2025 trophy saga in Dubai, where India refused to accept the trophy and medals from him, has confirmed a political influence on the controversy.

The Asia Cup trophy is still in Dubai, and its journey to the ACC office or Pakistan remains uncertain. Rashid Latif said on the Caught Behind podcast, “They could easily shut down the Pakistan Cricket Board if they wanted to. The November meeting is extremely important, mark my word. It’s an ICC meeting, and all the key people around the world will be there.

We all know that political influence exists in the cricket boards of India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Now, the question is, who holds two key positions? Mohsin Naqvi is both Pakistan’s Interior Minister and the PCB Chairman, which makes this a very critical issue.”

Rashid Latif warns PCB of danger amid poor performances

The former cricketer has pointed out that Pakistan’s poor performance in recent matches has only worsened the situation. While strong performances on the field might have eased tensions, ongoing losses have made the PCB’s position risky. Latif warned the PCB and Naqvi that the cricket world could see major suspension if the drama continues to unfold.

Latif signed off by saying, “If we were performing strongly and winning matches, things might have been different, but they are losing matches, so it complicates matters. Honestly, I feel that God save us from all these issues, because the situation ahead looks very bad. Whatever is written on the wall, those people are planning to do it.”
