The cold relation between the cricket boards of India and Pakistan is well known to all, and the 2025 Asia Cup trophy incident has made things only worse. Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s provocative and anti-India statements after a tragic terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam made him a villain in India.

That led the Indian cricket team to refuse to take the Asia Cup trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) head. And then the PCB head made things ugly by boycotting the India match at the T20 World Cup 2026, only to surrender to the ICC.

Mohsin Naqvi invited for ICC Board Meetings and IPL 2026 Final in Ahmedabad

Amidst these controversies, Mohsin Naqvi is likely to visit India this month, and this news has already created massive buzz among the India-Pakistan circles. According to Pakistani media, the PCB head is likely to attend the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad.

Actually, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly invited Naqvi to attend the important board meeting on May 30 and 31 in Ahmedabad, and this move is to break the ice between the BCCI and PCB.

The Geo News shared that Naqvi has been invited to attend the ICC board meeting and the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad later this month.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to decide on Mohsin Naqvi's India visit

Naqvi has been asked to attend the meeting in person, but the tense India-Pakistan relations, both on and off the field, put his visit in doubt as the invitation has been ‘forwarded’ to the Prime Minister's office.

The reports suggested that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will decide whether the PCB chief can travel to Ahmedabad or not for the ICC board meeting because India-Pakistan cricket relations have been more sensitive since Operation Sindoor.

The ICC stated that the governing body is set to hold a series of meetings, including the Chief Executives Committee (CEC) and the board meetings. The CEC meeting will be held virtually on May 21, while the in-person Board meeting is scheduled to be held on May 30 and 31 in Ahmedabad, where the IPL 2026 final will also be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31.

Mohsin Naqvi celebrates Pakistan Women’s dominant show against Zimbabwe

Naqvi hailed the players for their strong effort in the home series and also congratulated the coaching staff, along with Wahab Riaz, for the successful campaign. He also hoped that the Pakistan women’s team would continue their winning form in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Speaking about the men’s team, the Pakistan national team is currently on the Bangladesh tour for the two-match Test series. They have lost the first Test by 104 runs in Dhaka, but they look in control in the second and final Test against Bangladesh.
