Mohsin Naqvi's vile move to land BCCI in Dhaka for Asia Cup 2025 falls flat

The Indian cricket board, BCCI, is yet to make any formal decision over the future of the upcoming Asia Cup, which is scheduled to be held in late September this year. Amid the dilemma, vile moves from the PCB chief have landed the BCCI in another fix.
The Asian Cricket Council is currently headed by the Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi. Mohsin Naqvi replaced Shammi Silva and assumed office in April 2025 after an online meeting of the ACC members.
Mohsin Naqvi, who had to deal with several setbacks during the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year from the BCCI, is now probably looking to avenge the losses. PCB had to opt for a hybrid model, as BCCI, under any terms, did not agree to send their players to play in Pakistan.
As reported by SportsTak, Mohsin Naqvi, who currently heads the Asian Cricket Council, called for the next meeting of the ACC members in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. This has emerged as a concern to the BCCI officials, citing the current political tensions between the two nations.
BCCI's plea to Mohsin Naqvi led Asian Cricket Council
The same reports from SportsTak also claim that this proposal of the Asian Cricket Council, led by Mohsin Naqvi, has been deferred by the BCCI. The BCCI has made a clear statement to Mohsin Naqvi that it will not be able to feature in any meeting if it is held in Dhaka.
BCCI has urged the Asian Cricket Council to organize a meeting at some other place outside Bangladesh, as they are not currently in a position to travel there, citing the safety of their officials amid the cross-border tensions.
Bangladesh is going through a scary political war, as their former Prime Minister, Ms. Sheikh Hasina, is currently staying in India under the protection of the government due to life threats in her own country.

India tour of Bangladesh deferred by a year
India were supposed to play their first white-ball series since the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy on their tour to Bangladesh, which was earlier scheduled to be held at the end of August.
The tour consisted of three T20 international matches and three ODI matches as well. The T20s would come in handy for the young Indian team led by Suryakumar Yadav as they prepare for the upcoming Asia Cup.
On the other hand, the ODI series would be of immense joy to Indian cricket fans, as it would mark the return of their veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. However, the plans have been widely changed by both cricket boards.
Both the BCCI and BCB agreed on the workload for the two teams with several international tournaments and series lined up, and hence decided to postpone the India tour of Bangladesh by a year or so.
Sri Lanka Cricket proposes white-ball tour to BCCI
As per reports from Cricbuzz, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has made a proposal to the BCCI to hold a white-ball tour between the two nations in the same time span where the India tour of Bangladesh was earlier scheduled.
Recently, Sri Lanka hosted Bangladesh for a long series across all three formats of the game and is now eager for a tour with the Men in Blue. All these seem to be preparatory phases for the upcoming Asia Cup, as Sri Lanka will enter as defending champions of the T20 Asia Cup.
However, BCCI is yet to make any formal decision over the proposal made by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board. This decision would be made only after consulting with players and coaches.
