Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Moin Khan has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the 'flawed' system in Pakistan cricket. Moin blamed the current system for the recent downfall of the Pakistan cricket team, which has gone through some tough situations in the past few months.
Khan was visibly disappointed with the current team's performance as well as the PCB's system which was openly exposed with Pakistan's early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. He called for a proper system in Pakistan cricket that can help revive the team.
Moin Khan lashes out at PCB for the lack of a proper system in Pakistan cricket
Moin Khan clearly stated that there is no planning in Pakistan cricket which has led to its downfall. He claimed that Pakistan's current cricket system is flawed which is the reason why the national team is going through such tough times.
"There was no visible planning in the cricket team. There is a system under which players come and go. When the system gets flawed, problems arise," Moin Khan said.
Pakistan cricket is going through one of its worst times right now. The national team was eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2024 in the group stage after suffering defeats at the hands of the USA and India. They managed to win their next two matches against Canada and Ireland but that did not prove to be enough for them to qualify for the Super 8 stage.
The defeat to the USA in the Super Over was particularly shocking for the Men in Green as they boast a huge amount of experience as compared to the USA and were expected to win the match easily. The loss to a lower-ranked team affected their confidence levels which was visible in their next game against India.
Pakistan's campaign in T20 World Cup 2024
Pakistan suffered another narrow defeat to their arch-rivals India in the next match. They had the match in their grasp before slipping right at the end to concede the match to their arch-rivals.
Pakistan's shocking loss encouraged widespread criticism of the team from various aspects of the country. The players were heavily criticized by the country's former cricketers and experts who even asked for a total revamp within the team.
Pakistan's white-ball captain Babar Azam is under severe pressure as well. Babar's captaincy is under threat while his batting has been criticized lately as well. With Pakistan set to play its next white-ball series in November, it will be interesting to see whether Babar Azam keeps his place as a captain of the team or not.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi called for a 'surgery' within the team after the poor performances. As a result, the PCB dismissed selectors Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from their roles in the PCB.
It is quite evident that Pakistan's current system is not producing the great cricketers that it used to produce at some time. Though there are some talented players in the country, the lack of a proper system has hampered the country's growth in cricket.
