The India National Cricket Team’s struggles continue to mount as the bowler Morne Morkel is likely to submit his resignation to the BCCI after the end of the ongoing white-ball series in England.

Actually, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir’s trusted support staff members are reportedly thinking about leaving their roles once their contracts end following the England tour. Amid this, Sanjay Manjrekar blames BCCI and IPL after India's 4-0 T20I series loss to England.

Morne Morkel could leave Team India after England tour

As reported by Times of India, the BCCI will have to find the replacement of Morne Morkel before India's busy international schedule begins. With the three-match T20I series in Zimbabwe and the Test tour of Sri Lanka coming up, the BCCI could be forced to make a big call next week.

It is being said that India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel is considering his future with the Men in Blue amid the team’s poor performances in the ongoing T20I cricket. The former South African fast bowler’s contract will end after the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, but he has not confirmed whether he will continue as the team’s bowling coach.

BCCI may need a new bowling coach soon

However, Morkel has also not taken a final decision. According to the report, the Proteas star is still thinking about his options, and discussions with the BCCI are continuing. The board is trying to convince the bowling coach to remain with the Indian national cricket team.

On the other hand, Ryan ten Doeschate is reportedly unsure about staying because of the constant traveling required with the Indian team throughout the year. Reports also suggest that he could be in talks with an IPL franchise, so his future with the national team is uncertain.

BCCI trying to convince Morne Morkel and Ryan ten Doeschate to stay

Morkel and Ryan ten Doeschate joined the Indian coaching setup in July 2024 after Gautam Gambhir became the head coach. Gambhir personally wanted both of them in his support staff, and they have worked closely with him over the last two years.

Now, if both coaches decide to leave, the BCCI may have to make emergency changes before India's next overseas assignments. Amid this, Ravichandran Ashwin exposes India's biggest mistake after England tour debacle.

The Indian cricket board is currently holding discussions with both Morne Morkel and Ryan ten Doeschate in the hope of finding a solution, but they have not yet made any decision.

T. Dilip unlikely to get contract extension for Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka tours

The Men in Blue are scheduled to tour Zimbabwe for a three-match T20I series later this month. VVS Laxman is expected to travel with the team to Zimbabwe. Soon after that, India will travel to Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series in the first week of August.

If Morkel does not continue, the BCCI may send newly appointed Centre of Excellence fast bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji with the Test squad.

On the other hand, the fielding coach T. Dilip is unlikely to get an extension after the team's poor fielding efforts since his return to the side last year. Dilip’s BCCI contract is all set to end after the upcoming ODI series in England, and the fielding coach is set to be replaced before the Zimbabwe tour.
