MS Dhoni has been reported to not travel to Ahmedabad alongside the Chennai Super Kings team for their final clash against the Gujarat Titans.
The Chennai Super Kings will now have to travel from Chennai to Ahmedabad for their final league-stage match in IPL 2026. The defeat in the last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad has obstructed their way into the playoffs.
The Chennai Super Kings have still set their eyes on the playoff spot, despite having lost two matches in a row. At one stage it seemed CSK could have marched into the playoffs, but now their chances depend on other teams like the Rajasthan Royals.
MS Dhoni to not travel to Ahmedabad for CSK's final game against Gujarat Titans
The legendary CSK batter made his final appearance of the season at the MA Chidambaram Stadium during their last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was spotted on the ground waving at the fans in Chepauk and clicking selfies with the teammates.
Revsportz has reported that MS Dhoni has not travelled to Ahmedabad for CSK's final match against the Gujarat Titans. It remains a stern doubt whether he would continue to play for the Super Kings or end his career in 2026. CSK management is hoping to see him play his farewell game next year.
However, CSK management will hope that Dhoni returns for one last appearance at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Whether he will continue as a player in 2027 is still undecided; however, his actions have indicated a possible retirement.

Suresh Raina sparked rumours on Dhoni's retirement.
MS Dhoni's probable final appearance at Chepauk did not include anything like a farewell speech or a dramatic send-off; instead, it included Dhoni waving towards the fans and even staying back at the venue even after CSK faced a thrashing defeat.
Dhoni's longtime partner in the Chennai Super Kings dressing room and former Indian batter revealed after the match that during a conversation with the great Indian wicketkeeper, he revealed that his body felt weak.
“I told him, ‘you have given IPL 2026 a missed call. It won’t count. You have to come back next year," Raina said. “He said, ‘my body is a little weak.'" - I said ‘we are not believing anything. You have to play next year’. It’s his personal call. I think he is positive. The team is also gelling well again.”
Uncertainty around MS Dhoni continues to build up around injuries
MS Dhoni's age has been nearing 45 in recent times, and at this age, concerns around injuries seem pretty usual. While Raina's comments came amid a night filled with emotion, the supporters started to fear that this might be the last time they witness Dhoni play.
MS Dhoni was not part of the playing XI throughout the season due to his calf injury, which did not allow him to overcome his fitness concerns. Despite all the impact player rule hands, a fair chance is given to him to return next season and make a final match appearance at CSK's home ground in Chepauk.
