MS Dhoni drops bombshell on his availability for IPL 2026

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni dropped a massive hint about his future in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The keeper-batter mentioned that he hasn't decided anything if he will be playing in the next season or not.

Chennai Super Kings are hosting Punjab Kings in the 49th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The match between the two teams is taking place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, 30th April.

Danny Morrison asked: "Look at the reception. Does this mean you're coming back next year as well?" Replying to this, MS Dhoni said, "I don't know if I'm coming for the next game (laughs)."

The keeper-batter then also talked about the performance of the team, admitting that they haven't been able to use home conditions well.

MS Dhoni was also honest to admit that they have been uncharacteristic this time, as they have been making a lot of changes. Speaking at the toss, he said:

"One of the things is the pride factor. Majority of the games you play at home. Home advantage is very important which we haven't been able to capitalise on. Same team. We've been a side where we don't make a lot of changes. But this season we've made a lot of changes.

"Reason is simple. If most of your players are doing well, then you chop and change 1-2 players. But this season it hasn't worked for us. It's also the first season after a fresh auction. So you have something in mind but you have to see where a batter is suited better."

Also, in one of the games of the Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk, in which MS Dhoni's parents were in the stands, a video of his wife saying, "His last game" went viral. But the keeper-batter has now kept many confused, and it remains to be seen if he will be playing next season or not.

MS Dhoni has been having a tough time in the league. Apart from not being successful as a captain, he has failed to score runs as well. The keeper-batter has batted pretty slowly and also has batted late in the order, which has seen him facing a lot of criticism.
