MS Dhoni in serious trouble again after Rahul Chahar opens a new can of worms post Irfan Pathan's Hookah

Even the biggest achievements on the field against the former Indian captain often come with a deep respect. Recently, Indian spinner Rahil Chahar recalled dismissing Dhoni in 2020 during an IPL match between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

For most young bowlers, dismissing MS Dhoni is a career-defining moment. While many bowlers might have erupted in celebration after sending the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman back to the pavilion, Rahul didn’t celebrate at all to show respect and immediately won admiration.

By showing composure and maturity, the young spinner not only claimed a prized scalp but also escaped from the criticism he could have faced had he celebrated the CSK captain’s wicket. The spinner admitted that CSK and Dhoni’s fans always abuse a bowler who dares to celebrate the legendary cricketer’s wicket, but he was lucky to get the admiration.

Rahil Chahar said on Filmygyan: “In 2020, when I dismissed Mahi Bhai, people were praising me for one thing: that I didn't celebrate his wicket. I was like, oh, is that so? Because the whole of India looks at Mahi Bhai as a legend, and if a young boy celebrates his wicket, people will be like, ‘What are you doing? Who are you in front of him? and you will face a lot of hate."
"So, that day I felt good; I thought, ‘People are considering me positive’. Generally, people abuse a bowler who celebrates Mahi Bhai’s wicket, but I got to hear a good thing.”

Speaking about the battle between Dhoni and Chahar, the CSK icon has struggled with the bat against the spinner, scoring only 19 runs from 34 balls in his last six IPL innings. Rahul dismissed Dhoni twice. He averaged 9.50, and his strike rate has dipped to just 55.88 against the spinner.

However, Rahul got to play only one game in the IPL 2025 with SRH. He bowled only one over and conceded nine runs. The spinner has 75 wickets in 79 IPL games to his name so far.
Irfan Pathan's old post sparks controversy again
Meanwhile, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan is making headlines after an old interview of his resurfaced. In the clip, Pathan said that he can’t set up a Hookah for MS Dhoni to select in the playing XI. Pathan accused Dhoni of giving a longer rope to those players who run after him.
Adding to the fire, another of Pathan’s old posts, where he criticized Dhoni for wearing army-style gloves during a match, is making rounds on social media.
Pathan had posted, “We all know Lt. Colonel MS Dhoni’s love for the armed forces, but ICC rules are the same for all. One question: will it be fine if any opposition team sports their armed forces logo?”
