A Pakistan captain inspired by the legendary India National Cricket Team captain MS Dhoni’s calm genius is looking to win the marquee tournament for their country.
Pakistan Women's National Cricket Team captain Fatima Sana has said that she is taking inspiration from MS Dhoni and is aiming to perform well in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025.
ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka
The Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will start on September 30, and the final is scheduled to be held on November 2. India and Sri Lanka will co-host the marquee tournament.
ICC has finalized ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam), R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka), and DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai) as venues for the competition.
Also, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a record prize money, which has been set at 13.88 million dollars and eclipses the $10 million prize money of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The champions are set to get a prize money of $4.48 million.
I take inspiration from MS Dhoni - Fatima Sana
Speaking ahead of the competition, Fatima Sana said that she is nervous, but is inspired by MS Dhoni to do something special for Pakistan in the World Cup.
“It is natural to be a little nervous initially when captaining in a big tournament like the World Cup, but I take inspiration from Mahendra Singh Dhoni as a captain,” Sana told PTI.
“I have seen his matches as the India and CSK captain. His on-field decision-making, calmness, and the way he backs his players, there is a lot to learn from that. When I got the captaincy, I thought that I have to become like Dhoni. I also watched his interviews and got to learn a lot,” said Sana.
Notably, MS Dhoni is arguably the greatest captain of all time as he won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2007, ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2011, and ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Also, he has won five IPL trophies as a skipper.

This time, the jinx will definitely be broken - Fatima Sana
Pakistan Women's National Cricket Team have struggled a lot in the World Cup over the years, and Fatima Sana is looking to flip the script this time.
“This time, the jinx will definitely be broken because the young players know how important this tournament is for Pakistan women’s cricket. We will not think about the past. My goal is to take the team to the semifinals,” she added.
“In Pakistan, girls have started playing cricket in schools and international matches are being telecast live. ICC has also taken a good initiative by increasing the prize money for the Women’s World Cup, which will inspire budding players in Pakistan. But there is still a barrier which we have to break through this tournament,” she said.
