MS Dhoni, the former captain of India, reportedly has a niggle in one of his knees and has turned to Ayurveda for relief. The renowned wicketkeeper-batter has chosen to lead a reclusive life and has made few public appearances since declaring his retirement from international cricket.

He was recently photographed attending his friend’s birthday celebration, and the pictures quickly went viral on social media. Similar to this, pictures of Dhoni’s visit to a small town close to Ranchi are getting a lot of attention and revealing the great cricketer’s humble side. The Jharkhand player, who would turn 41 the following week, reportedly paid a visit to an ayurvedic doctor in Ranchi. In a distant Ranchi village, this physician, Vaidya Bandhan Singh Kharwar, caters to his patients while sitting beneath a tree. The physician uses wild plants to heal illnesses and charges Dhoni Rs 40 for a single dosage of medication. At Katingkela, a police station in Lapung that is over 70 km from Ranchi, the local physician has been caring for patients in this manner for the past 28 years.

Dhoni, who only plays for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), chose to seek treatment after seeing his parents, who were also being treated by Vaidya Kherwar, find relief from his medication.

Initially unable to identify Dhoni or his parents, Kherwar became aware of his famous patient as the neighbourhood kids began congregating to take pictures with the two-time World Cup-winning India captain. IANS cited Vaidya as saying, “Dhoni comes like a normal patient without any pomp. He has no pride in being a celebrity. However, now every four days, the news of Dhoni’s arrival gathers his fans here. So now he sits in his car while his medicine is administered to him.”

MS Dhoni will again turn up for CSK next year.
