Former India captain MS Dhoni was one of the seven former cricketers inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame on Monday (June 10).

The other former cricketers to get the honour are Australia's Matthew Hayden, New Zealand's Daniel Vettori, South Africa's Hashim Amla and Graeme Smith, England's Sarah Taylor, and Pakistan's Sana Mir.

MS Dhoni the GOAT

MS Dhoni is widely regarded as one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen in the game. The legendary cricketer bowed out of international cricket as one of India's most decorated captains. In 2007, he led India to glory in the inaugural edition of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Four years later, MS Dhoni also ended India's 28-year wait for the ODI World Cup. Under his captaincy, India beat Sri Lanka in the final to win their second World Cup and first since 1983. The triumph also made India the first-ever country to win the trophy on home soil. MS Dhoni was adjudged the Player of the Match in the final for his unbeaten knock of 91 runs.

In 2013, he also led India to victory in the Champions Trophy in England. It made him the first and so far only captain to win all three major awards in limited-overs cricket as a captain.

It is an honour: MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni's record as a batsman and a wicketkeeper is equally impressive. In ODIs, he played 350 games and scored 10773 runs at an average of more than 50. He also took 321 catches and effected 123 stumpings. The former Indian cricketer also represented the country in 90 Tests and 98 T20Is.

"It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world," said MS Dhoni.

"To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever," he added.

Legendary Cricketers Inducted Into ICC Hall Of Fame

Talking about Hayden, he was a key member of the all-conquering Australian team of the 2000s. He was a part of the Australian team that won the ODI World Cup in 2003 and 2007. In the 2007 World Cup, Hayden had hit three centuries. He also hit 30 centuries in Tests.

Amla enjoyed a stellar Test career and was an important member of the South African team that reached the pinnacle of Test cricket. In 2012, he scored an unbeaten 311 against England and became the first-ever player from his country to hit a triple century. Overall, Amla hit more than 50 centuries in international cricket.

Smith was the captain when South Africa dominated Test cricket. He led the Proteas in a record 109 Tests and guided them to 53 wins. He is still the only player to captain a Test team for over 100 matches.

Vettori is one of New Zealand's most decorated cricketers of all time. He is one of the only three players to score 4000 runs and pick up 300 wickets in Tests.

Mir played 120 ODIs and 106 T20Is for Pakistan. She led Pakistan in 72 ODIs and 65 T20Is. Under her captaincy, Pakistan won two gold medals at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014. Mir is the highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in ODIs with 151 scalps to her name.

Taylor enjoyed an illustrious career with England in international cricket. She was a key member of the England team that won the ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup in 2009. Taylor also made a huge impact when England won the ODI World Cup in 2017.
