MS Dhoni ruled out of DC vs CSK IPL 2026 match

MS Dhoni is likely to miss another match in the IPL 2026. He has been doing practices and drills in the training season, but for some reason, he is expected to miss another match for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
CSK will next face the Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 5 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. It is going to be a must-win match for both of the teams. Probably, the entire Chennai is waiting to see MS Dhoni play another match in the CSK colors. But he is yet to play a match in IPL 2026.
MS Dhoni is likely to miss the DC match
Ahead of the DC vs CSK match, there are heavy speculations that the former cricketer can make his first appearance in the ongoing season. But the recent updates suggest a different story. Rohit Juglan, a RevSportz journalist, claims that MS Dhoni is not travelling to Delhi.

In the comment box of the post, one of the MS Dhoni fans expressed that it is irritating for them as there is no clarity about the 44-year-old’s availability. In the development of multiple CSK games in the IPL 2026, there were speculations about the former skipper’s chances of playing a match. When he will play, whether he will play, there are many questions on MSD without any proper answer.
“Honestly, as an MSD fan, this is just irritating. Either play or retire, or at the very least, communicate it properly to all the fans. This whole drama is not funny anymore,” a MS Dhoni fan wrote in the comment of the post.
CSK's current form has made the title race more interesting
After a tumultuous start during the initial stage of the ongoing Indian Premier League campaign, slowly but surely, Chennai Super Kings has been making progress in the points table. From the bottom-most position of the league, now they are ranked 6th in the 10-team points table, remains in the title race. In their previous 5 games, CSK managed to win 3 matches, ahead of the Delhi Capitals.
Delhi Capitals is currently ranked 7th with 8 points, a step lower than their next opponent. The winner of the May 5th match will claim 2 more points, and with 10 points, the team will get close to the top four bracket. Interestingly, the Gujarat Titans, the 5th team in the table, which has 10 points in 9 matches, has a net run rate of -0.192, while CSK’s net run rate is now +0.005, better than the Gujarat Titans.
