As the days pass by, chances to see MS Dhoni playing in the IPL 2027 season gradually become thinner and thinner. He is now 45, and uncertainty over the legendary keeper-batter shows no sign of decreasing at this moment.
If the previous and latest claims made by the RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan are to be believed, then the former captain is unlikely to play in the IPL 2027 as a player. In a previous social media post, it was claimed that MS Dhoni could be appointed as a support staff member of the team, not as the head coach, but in a more important role than a regular player.
What is the future of MS Dhoni with the Chennai Super Kings?
In the future, MS Dhoni as a mentor of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is not looking impossible, but not confirmed yet. The CSK team management is currently looking for a coach in place of Stephen Fleming.
After a devastating season across the franchise leagues, CSK broke their tie with their long-serving head coach Stephen Fleming. As Dhoni is nearing his retirement with Fleming's exit, the transition phase of the team instantly becomes intensified.
CSK's primary aim is to appoint a new head coach ahead of IPL 2027
In the last few seasons, the franchise officials mostly put their efforts into the team-building process; now, they are required to redecorate their coaching set-up as well. What will be MS Dhoni's future in the next season can be finalized only after the appointment of the new coach. Who will be CSK's new head coach, the successor of Stephen Fleming? It is yet to be decided.
In his latest YouTube video from his own channel, the journalist claimed that MS Dhoni as a player next year is most probably not going to happen. For which role he could join the team is also not fixed yet.
MS Dhoni will not play for CSK
He also mentioned that ahead of next season’s auction, a lot of things will change around the franchise with the arrival of the new head coach. So currently, there are a lot of complications over Dhoni’s future in CSK.
“That it's very much possible that you won't see Mahendra Singh Dhoni as a player next year. I don't know in what capacity he will come. The things are yet to come out in what capacity he will join Chennai Super Kings. But today also, what I understood after talking is that again it's becoming difficult,” it is claimed on the YouTube channel ‘Rohit Juglan’.
“As we are moving towards the next IPL, or for that matter towards the auction or towards the trade release retentions, it's again getting difficult to think that, yeah, you will see Mahendra Singh Dhoni playing as a player. A lot will change. I have been telling you this from before. Around Chennai Super Kings, you will see a lot of changes, and I told you, people, three-four days ago around this that, you know, they are looking for a new coach,” it is further claimed by Juglan.
