A well-known Star Sports presenter and commentator, Tanay Tiwary, has opened up about an unheard story involving MS Dhoni from that infamous Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) IPL 2024 match on May 18, 2024, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
It was a do-or-die match for both the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings teams, and the pressure was massive. After pulling off the 27-run win over CSK to enter the IPL playoffs, RCB players celebrated wildly on the field.

After the match, CSK players came forward for the usual handshake line, but the RCB players were still busy celebrating their famous win. CSK players were left waiting near the boundary ropes. After waiting for a while, Dhoni lost patience, and he shook hands only with the RCB support staff near the boundary and quietly walked straight towards the dressing room.
Later, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh revealed that Dhoni was so upset after walking off the field that he allegedly punched a screen outside the dressing room area. But that’s not only the story from that emotional and ugly night, as a Star Sports commentator shared an interesting tale.

Before venting his anger on the way to the dressing room, Dhoni was already so angry during that IPL clash. Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia's ‘The Ranveer Show,' Tanay Tiwary revealed that MS Dhoni was so upset and angry after CSK was thrashed by the RCB in the virtual knockout match in Chennai.
The legendary cricketer was dismissed for 25 runs off 13 balls by Yash Dayal, and that was the turning point of the match. Dhoni knew that if he had been there, the result might have been different, and that’s why he was just “seething” in anger in the dugout.

He also shared another incident when Dhoni surprised fans during a 2025 IPL match against Gujarat Titans by losing his cool on the field.
The CSK legend was seen frustrated after Matheesha Pathirana and Shivam Dube failed to follow his fielding instructions properly during the match.
Dhoni was trying to change the field placements, but Dube and Pathirana did not react quickly to his signals. That left the former captain angry, and he was seen shouting instructions and showing frustration openly on the field. It was the rare emotional outburst from Dhoni on the field.
